The best thing about summer's approach is that now it's warm enough for my California loved ones to come visit me! Isabel flew out last week for a quick trip, so we packed as many Chicago things as we possibly could into the three days she was here. Being in tour guide mode was really cool for me because now that I've almost been here a year I feel like I have a pretty good grasp on the things I want to show visitors, but there are also still so many things I haven't seen yet either. I took her to the Art Institute, the Garfield Park Conservatory, and Green Street Smoked Meats but together we went to the Frank Lloyd Wright House & Studio which I hadn't had the chance to check out yet. It was nice having someone from home who could lament the lack of boba in Chicago with me*, and pick up on all my San Gabriel Valley references, and it's always cool watching someone who's never been to Chicago before fall in love with it. Because I get it, it's a pretty loveable city.
*Seriously though, if you know where I can find decent boba in Chicago hit me up.
